WHAT'S NEW?

it is FINALLY a crisp, cold, wet winter and i can thrive as i am meant to: in very obnoxious jackets and long pants. i snagged an absolutely fantastic NASA jacket from a secondhand store for like $20 at the start of the month, which is a high i have been riding since. i have been thoroughly enjoying my walks that i've managed to fit in this month between the general busy bustle of it all, now that the weather is nice enough to go for good long ones. i did, regrettably, end up breaking my smart watch on one of these hikes which sucks because those things are horrendously expensive, but i've had it for a good 5yrs or something and it was on the way out anyway. it has taught me that i actually fucking hate smart watches and i will never touch one again in my entire life. replaced it with this beautiful star themed casio one which i am in love with and will never go back on.

HIKING REPORT

best hike of the month was a moderately difficult 6km circuit around a beautiful waterfall and through a valley. very wet and muddy hike, mind, but all that meant was the trail was empty! i went alone, kind of decided to go do it on a whim one my day off so i didn't have any friends available at the time, which means i got through it quicker than usual lmao. we are yappers and we love to stop and look at weird shit on the way. the waterfall at the bottom was giving off a beautiful rainbow by the time i reached it, so it was well worth the slippery decent!!

lots of my free time this month has been taken up by artfight! i joined team mystery this year for the a) edginess and b) fact that i cannot pass up a good red string conspiracy board aesthetic. i set myself a stupid goal every year and end up surpassing it anyway. aimed for 20 attacks this year, ended up doing 25!

the 18th of this month also marked 5 years since i've had Hopscotch!! my wonderful bouncy son <3 behold his evolution into a behemoth:

WORK NONSENSE

i have been sooooo busy at the clinic this month, it's been almost stupid!! one of our busiest surgery months in recent memory, i think. not even limited to pets, either - we did surgery on a duck the other day to remove a fish hook from it's leg!! lots of sick birds as well, which is a hassle to navigate given the current avian flu outbreak.

had a couple of beautiful, massive pythons brought in too!! these little guys usually become my problem to wrangle because

everyone's too scared of them lol, but that's fine by me.

my biggest Work Thing this month has been picking up loads of extra shifts at the emergency clinic, which has been so much fun; i love good chaotic, unpredictable day.

got really into paul simon's graceland album again, specifically due to this incredible parody
got suuuuper into twining's camomile & spiced apple tea. perfect winter night drink
