✸ [ NATURE WALK #01 ]

see i knew i should've waited until this afternoon to write my blog post. i knew i'd have something else to say. i frequently go on nature walks and hikes and such and note down where i go, what i saw, stuff like that. it's usually in a notebook that gets lost before the year is over, so i figured it'd be nice to make digital copies! i do plan on posting them here from now on.

hike through [REDACTED] regional park
17.02.25 ✸ 1.5 - 2hrs ✸ summer. 26c. cool overcast breezy day

saw: willie wagtail, monarch butterfly, scrub turkey, golden orb web weaver, common crow, honeybees, cows!, common crow butterfly, small grass yellow butterfly, lanternfly, a doggy :), magpies
heard but did not see: kookaburras, cicadas

this is a place i wander through quite frequently; i really like it, it's tucked out of the way and usually really quiet. there's walking trails that go on for miles and take you way back into the natural reserves in the area, following a creek the whole way up. it's teeming with birdlife and especially beautiful in spring when everything is in full bloom and there are butterflies everywhere you look. it also backs onto a council owned farmland, and it is always a delight to watch the cows for a little bit while you catch your breath. one of my favourite parts of the park is an opening in the bush where these powerlines go through, and since it's always so quiet, you can just hear this crazy loud humming coming from everywhere if you stand under them just right. it's eerie!
