HOOO WOW. i just recently finished what was available of this game (16.08.24), which is everything up to the violence layer. holy shit i love this game. DEARLY. i'm usually not a fan of flat fps with no rpg or exploration or online elements, however i do very much love dante's INFERNO, which is pretty much the inspiration behind this game's layers of hell themed levels. and what a delight it has been to play through them!!! it's been quite a while where i played a game where i loved every single bossfight more than the last one. it just kept impressing me, with the new enemies and mechanics being thrown in with little explanation, incredible bosses and mini-bosses. and the MUSIC! oh my god i had it on repeat for weeks.
layer 7, violence, was easily my favourite layer so far. the earthmover is fucking incredible, it's going to be very hard to top that fight for me. getting into 7-2 and seeing the battleground background was so fucking cool, i loved that you get to peek at the earthmovers in the background for a second when the lighting flashes. i was stopping every few seconds to take in how cool the surroundings were and then to be BLINDSIDED BY IT FOR REAL AT THE END!! delightful. wonderful game. i love the subtle lore drops here and there in the game too, about humanity's final war, and the creation of the machines and such. the terminal entries are such a great addition to the game - lore, info, and strategies for each enemy once you've run into them in a level!!
till the new stuff comes out, i'm probably going to just try to p-rank everything currently available and blitz through some cybergrind stuff because i love the endless wave format. and draw the silly little mosquito robot because i love him dearly
