FAVES OF THE YEAR

SOLARIS (1961)
book • sci-fi

i re-read a lot of books this year, but this was one of the first and very few books i read for the first time this year! it stood out to me because i really love this exact kind of scifi; the cold war era space race tech, the casette futurism feel, that very STAR TREK feel, y'know? conceptually, i very much enjoyed the scifi in this book as well - an alient planet covered in hostile, sentient ocean is just delightful. this little book really surprised me and stuck with me all year!

PATHOLOGIC 2 (2019)
game • survival horror

no brainer for my fav game of the year. i may not have finished this game in it's entirety this year, but it was very easily my favourite. i spent A LOT of time with the PATHOLOGIC game series this year and just fell so in love with the worldbuilding in this second game, i found it built off the first game beautifully and fleshed out what i felt was missing in terms of story. it's a struggle of a game but i truly enjoyed every moment of it that i played - i could ramble all day about it, and you can see what i have to say in the above link if you like! pleaseplaythesegames

WAKE UP DEAD MAN: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY (2025)
movie • crime, drama

i just really honestly did love this movie. i dont know if it's just because this is one of those movie series my friends and i love to sit down and enjoy together or what. i love KNIVES OUT, this one really did give me that wonderful magical feeling back that i got when watching the initial movie. i have my qualms with it, but it deserves fave movie of the year purely because i was really, really looking forward to it and i have been disappointed so many times this year by movies, but this one pulled through! i have watched it 3 times since it's release. i feel normal about it.
